Old woman
Round of face
With nothing to do
But peer out
From behind
Her shifting curtains
And spy
On costumed children
Below

So eager to shine
A spotlight
On the masked figures
And expose their
Bags of tricks

This makes her Halloween
A delightful treat
And she pushes back
The curtains
And gleams

The stealth plane emerges
From the hangar

Baa, Baa, Black Sheep

January 15th, 2009

Baa, baa, black sheep,
Have you any wool?
Can't you see
My coat is full?

And it will stay this
Fluffy and nice
So stop bothering me!
Heed my advice!

Blah, blah, human,
Nothing left to say?
Good to hear!
Now, go away!

Baa, baa, black sheep,
Have you any wool?
Maybe I do.
Let's cut the bull.

I need my wool
To keep me warm,
So move along,
Get off my farm!

Don't get any of your
funny ideas.
Back away
And leave the shears.

Baa, baa, black sheep,
Have you any wool?
No, but here are
Three bags full.

One wouldn't listen
One saw too much
And one used his shears
So he was disposed of

So take up a shovel
And help dig holes
To dump the bags
And you'll get some wool

It's an offer
You shouldn't refuse
Because I just remembered
My fourth bag isn't full...
Yet.

(Of course this version isn't for kids. Just angry, naked sheep.)

Five Little Fingers in My Mouth

December 24th, 2008

One little finger in my mouth
Look at me suck my thumb!

Two little fingers in my mouth
Now I'm really having fun!

Three little fingers in my mouth
Some may say that three's a crowd

But with four little fingers in my mouth
I am feeling so, so proud

Five little fingers in my mouth?
Can I fit the last one in?

Five little fingers in my mouth
Errma erma errrrrrer rim

Can you understand me? No?
Then one of these fingers has to go!

Four little fingers in my mouth
Now I've got some space to breathe

Three little fingers in my mouth
Feeling roomy! Feeling free!

Two little fingers in my mouth
What a delicious pair

One little finger in my mouth
I hardly even know it's there

No little fingers in my mouth
Feeling empty, but that's good,
'Cause now I've got some room for food!
