When I have fears that I may cease to be
And think who'll witness my last fleeting breath,
I remember the love you have for me,
How life with you might not be worse than death.
With age, I might need one to lean upon,
Someone to drive me to the hospital,
Someone to pay my bills when I am gone,
Someone to feed me when I'm feeling well.
Growing old on my own makes me nervous.
Ours would be a convenient arrangement.
You would love, and I would love your service.
Will you accept my proposed engagement?
I'll commit to this union heavenly
At first sign of my invalidity!
