He swam across the greening pond
With all his fancy clothing on
Quietly, so the guards couldn't hear
The prince made his exit by the rear

He paddled forth to the mossy wall
That was built to protect the castle, all
He grasped a strand of green moss
Carefully he climbed up, back and forth, across

One rope snapped as he stepped
He slipped and fell, to a ledge he leapt
He panted and waited to catch his breath
Before he tried leaving his cleft

He heard the sound of the alarm clang
And to his feet, again, he sprang
He had to make it out in time
He started scaling the wall of slime

Just a few more inches to the top
But even then, he cold not stop
He must journey further on
In the dark until the dawn

He made it to the top at long last
And he felt some grass in his grasp
Pulling himself up was long, hard work
But an arrowed toe gave him strength to jerk

A drop of blood marked his retreat
On the ledge where he'd rested his feet
He bandaged his toe and pushed on
His anxious face became yellow and wan

He journeyed nine feet to his palace gates
The king saw his son and began to race
"Son, we'd thought that you were dead."
"Please, let's have some flies and bread."

While they were eating their snack
Princess Florrie peered in the door crack
"I need to speak to you, Prince Kent?
It is about our engagement.

And I really mustn't blame
I know you are so much the same.”
"What is it dear? I’m finally back.
I escaped that sorcerer, Sir Jack."

"Forget, Princess, that royal pain
'cause now I'm free of his silly reign.
We can now live in our little log."
"But, Kent, only you are a frog."
