I could follow his pawprints through the snow
To see just where the wild cat goes
"Where does he live? Has he a home?"
I wonder. "Or must he always roam?"
I'd take him as my pet, I would, if Mother would allow
But deep inside, I think, the wild cat needs to prowl
Animals raised in Mother Nature's care
Are strong enough to survive their winter's share
So, the wild cat, on his own, will go
And I'm sure for many more winters fro
I'll see pawprints through the snow
