Feathered Cousins Once Removed

Blue
Sophisticated
Wild
Heron

Shares the far end of a pond with
A gathering of Canadian geese
Feathered brothers

But they splash
They squawk
For no apparent purpose

And

When humans approach
They don’t fly away

Blue sophisticated wild heron
Reaches out his wings
Casting a lengthy shadow across
His brothers in the far end of the pond
And flees from the humans

And the
Brown
Domesticated
Canadian
Geese

Confused
