The wind begins its next set
on the forest stage
and the trees begin a slow sway
to the first chords

Underbellies of leaves exposed
as the wind leads the dancers
into the song’s chorus

A swirl of brown limbs and green attire
as the music gains intensity
and speed

The wind teases the crowd
building them to a feverish pitch
of movement

then pausing

performing a subdued bridge
a solo

then forcing them towards a crescendo again
with a driving beat
of sound
and power

the trees respond
turning the forest into a giant mosh pit
a blur of green motion
a frenetic dance

bits of leaves fall from the performers
along with the sweat of their labors
the rain

the wind plays on

fronds against a blue sky
