Bubble Tea

We had lunch at Veggie Heaven before heading over to the Zilker Park Kite Festival. And we had brought our beverages with us.

As soon as we arrived at the festival, a woman grabbed my arm and asked, "Did you get the bubble tea here?" She was very disappointed when we told her "no."

We suddenly fit in with the Austin crowd. We had the coveted bubble tea - which we hadn't even heard of until two hours before.

What is it? Tea with added flavoring. To mix, it's shaken and that's what makes the bubbles.

Ronak got a mango flavored drink, and I got coconut. We both added tapioca pearls.

Bubble tea is served with a wide straw that allows the pearls to slide up into your mouth. I thought it would be better to show, rather than try to describe it, so I made this movie: Bubble Tea.

It's a tasty drink and a fun experience in one!

I can't end this post without huge compliments to Veggie Heaven. Service was great! Food came quickly and tasted amazing! These guys actually "get" what vegetarian and vegan food can be. There are sooooooo many choices on the menu. Veggie Heaven was immediately placed on our list of regular haunts. :-)

In 2007, we moved to Austin, and this blog chronicled our adaptation to Texas life: festivals, wildflowers, and bats - oh my! Then we had a baby, and that changed everything, so now, we blog about where to buy organic food, what parks are fun for babies, which exterminator is taking care of our scorpion problem. (You know, the usual parental concerns.)
